The fact that you’re reading this article probably means that you have a OneDrive account (or if not, just curious about it) cloud storage account, and so you’ve already done the first step towards keeping your free storage. Microsoft announced that if you want to keep the 15GB cloud storage and 15GB bonus camera roll storage they offer for free for current OneDrive users, all you have to do is click on a link and claim it so you won’t be affected by the changes that will happen by 2016.
OneDrive users became a bit upset when Microsoft decided to stop giving Office 365 subscribers their promised unlimited storage due to the fact that a lot of users (according to the company) have been “abusing” this space by uploading their entire movie and music collection, audio recordings, and other heavy bandwidth files. But what really got a lot of people annoyed is that they were also reducing the free storage from 15GB to just 5GB and discontinuing the 15GB “extra” for the camera roll.
Now, Microsoft is offering a way to retain that 15GB space and the 15GB camera roll storage for free OneDrive users. All you have to do is click on the link provided, log in to your OneDrive account, and it’s all yours. If you are a free service customer and have more than 5G of space, you get a free one year subscription to Office 365 Personal. And for those who are on Office 365 Personal, Home, and University, they get to keep 1TB of storage but if they’ve already exceeded that due to the initial unlimited offer, they get to keep it for 12 months.
If you’re a subscriber and still unhappy with this arrangement, you can ask for a full refund. The claiming of the 15G free storage will be open until the end of January 2016, before all the new changes take effect.
