You’re watching a TV show, see a familiar looking actor, remember his name, but can’t recall what other shows he’s been on. You’re listening to a new song from a fast-rising artist, and you want to find out what are the actual lyrics she’s singing about. Your first instinct of course is to Google for more information. The search giant has now enhanced the results so you can get more details about the musician, TV show, actor or movie that you’re searching for.
Google has already been doing pretty good with pop culture searches, showing discography of artists, filmography of actors, official social media accounts, etc. But the latest update to their search algorithms will give you so much more, and organize the information you need in a structured manner. If you’re searching for a particular artist, the interface will now give you tabs where their songs, albums, upcoming events are listed, and will also give you online music services where you can listen to their music like Spotify, Google Play Music, YouTube.
If you’re looking for an actor, you get the same thing, like where they appeared before, upcoming appearances. Then for TV shows, it shows you upcoming episodes, critics reviews, etc. The update has also enhanced the recommendations settings, suggesting similar things that other people are searching for, what you should watch next, etc.
This enhanced search features are only available for Android smartphones and tablets, but we’re pretty sure it will eventually be rolled out to other platforms and devices.
