A lot of new apps are released into the Play Store all the time – and we mean A LOT – and with so many of these being launched, the sad part is that some of the best ones actually slip past our attention. So we’re here to help you out with 5 apps that you may have not noticed in November, but you should definitely take a look at.
Define
Define is one of those apps you just need handy on your mobile – whether you do a lot of reading and writing or not. It’s an offline dictionary that spans your whole device – all your apps – and gives you a word lookup tool that provides definitions, synonyms and different usages of any word you can coppy off an app. The definition is given through an unobtrusive pop-up window or notification. Pretty nice, eh? Users have a choice of three dictionaries that the app can query: Livio, Wordnet and Urban Dictionary. The caveat is that Urban Dictionary only works while you’re connected to the internet – but the rest will work offline.

YouTube Music
YouTube Music finally launched in November, and we were curious about what it brings to the table given that Google Play Music and regular YouTube are universally available. It feels like Google is trying to hit a niche market here, because the service is a sort of mix between the Play Music and YouTube itself. Logged in to your Google account, the app will give you custom-tailored playlists of music videos in accordance with your tastes. But the clincher may be this – the app will allow you to listen to audio only, if you wish to save on data. So the music keeps on playing even when the screen is off, unlike your “regular” YouTube app. This is definitely worth checking out.

AppBlock
And while we’re on the topic of apps you should use, here’s a new app that helps you when you’re using your phone too much. If your girlfriend is now mad at you because you check your phone all the time, or you’re getting into trouble during work hours because you play Clash of Clans way too much, then AppBlock might be the solution for you. If your perpetual Facebook notifications easily suck you in and waste 30 minutes of your work hours, AppBlock will stop notifications from the most evil apps on your phone for as long as you need it to stay silent. But the doozy here is that the app does this without actually muting the phone, so calls and important SMS messages can still come through.

Mirrativ
It’s still early days for this app, but if you know it, you will understand that it has a lot of potential. Apart from the bugs and speed issues that the developers need to fix, Mirrativ lets you live stream anything that is happening on the screen of your Android device, and the camera, simultaneously. That in itself is amazing. It only takes a few clicks, and you can share whatever you’re doing with friends, family, or the world. There is a social element as well, as the app allows you to interact with others using stickers and comments throughout the stream. This one is well worth checking out, for real.

Pixolor
This one is definitely for designers and app developers, but it’s sure amazing why no one thought of doing what Pixolor does until now. Pixolor is a live eyedropper tool – you should know that from your Photoshop – that floats over any screen in the form of a persistent notification. The app lets users view the hex value for any individual pixel. From there, they can create color palettes based on the current selection. This is useful when you see the perfect color of shirt, or any DIY project you have going on, online, and you have to remember the color. Well, Pixolor will do that for you. There is an initial ad-free period of use, after which the app is still usable – with ads.
