Samsung’s “Active” variants – mostly launched after the flagships have been released and are ruggedized versions of the flagship phones – have been a fixture in the Korean gadget giant’s product list. A lot of people have taken to the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, and this new video shows just how sturdy and ruggedized it is – when used as a hockey puck.
For most phones, I’d be cringing at the thought of it being swatted around by big sweaty men with hockey sticks – but this video actually got me interested. The first test was dropping the phone on the ice, just like a regular hockey puck. Remember that a real hockey puck is made of hardened rubber – we’re talking about a smartphone, with internal parts (albeit with rugged protection). The Samsung Galaxy S6 survived several drop tests into the ice, and even a water bath. See the video below.
The difficult part started when the phone started being passed around by the hockey team, but it survived even that. Then came the slapshots, full force into the goal. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active survived two hard slaps – still working.
Then the guys decided to use the phone in a real scrimmage. The phone finally gave up after being hit hard at a goalpost. But Samsung Galaxy S6 Active users need not worry – this phone is built like a tank and will survive most of your daily use, and even some extreme outdoor activities.
