An app that will help you control and manage your routers may not sound like the sexiest app you can download. But of course, it is a convenient thing to have on your smartphone or tablet and may sometimes be a necessity for your piece of mind. If you have an ASUS router (yes, they make more than just smartphones and tablets and netbooks), you may want to get hold of their newly released app called, what else, ASUS Router.
Previously, the ASUS router management tool is browser-based and designed more for desktops or laptops. But if what you want is a more convenient tool that you can use on your mobile device, then this app will be your friend (if your friend always tries to fix your communication problems). It has the most basic features like SSID and guest network setup, traffic manager, and device manager. It also has more features like game boost, easy wi-fi sharing, network security scan, and router setting backup, among others.
To use the app, connect to the Wi-Fi being broadcast by the router of course, then log in by entering your administrator username and password. After that, you basically have access to all the features and can easily manage your router and the devices connected to it.
Unfortunately, the app doesn’t work with all Asus routers, just several specific ones, most of them new. They did promise that more will be added soon. You can download the app from the Google Play Store and use it if your router is any of the following: RT-AC5300, RT-AC3100, RT-AC88U, RT-AC3200, RT-AC87U/R, RT-AC68U/R/P/W, RT-AC66U/R, RT-AC56U, RT-N66U/R.
