If you didn’t know it yet, Facebook has an enterprise version called, what else, Facebook at Work, that has been in private testing this year. Basically, it is like the consumer version we’re familiar with, but catered for companies and its employees. Now, it also has its own version of the Messenger chat called, again, obviously, Work Chat, and it seeks to topple other work-related messaging apps like Slack (which seems to be the it boy right now).

Just like the Messenger app that we’re so used to (and which was kinda forced upon Facebook users), you can use it for multiple individual chats or group chats, where you can also share photos, videos, documents, make voice calls, and if you like a little fun with your work, even stickers. The addition of this for the Facebook at Work program may be part of their ramping up for the introduction of the freemium version of this business networking platform.

Currently, there are around 300 businesses in the private testing, which includes Heineken USA, Hootsuite, and the Royal Bank of Scotland, which is their largest account so far. The bank plans to require 30,000 workers to be on this app by March 2016. Aside fro the basic consumer Facebook functions, the Work version actually allows document sharing, digital bulletin board announcements, creating groups for various projects, collaborations, and yes, even discussions.

Slack may probably be their strongest competition when they finally launch the public version. It has enterprise-focused features and has a lot of integration partners like Dropbox, Google Drive, IFTTT, Twitter, Google Calendar, etc. Let’s see if Facebook for Work can match that or even better their offerings.
