Some people are born to be football players and some, football club managers. If you’ve spent a lot of weekends just screaming at these managers on your television set while watching the game, then you’re probably the latter. And you’ve probably spent a lot of time playing football manager games on your mobile. SEGA is introducing the latest in their sports management series, and this time, it’s the lower end but equally engrossing Football Manager Mobile 2016.
Just like with their other football management games, you don’t actually control the actions of the players on the pitch. And instead of a realistic rendering of the match, you get an abstract series of moving dots showing you what’s happening on the pitch. The joy is in actually creating that team, from the drafting and trading, choosing their training regimen, choosing their positions and game strategies, adjusting when you’re losing, etc. Basically, what every good club manager does (or should be doing).
This new version adds several features of course, including the ability to add enhanced tactical instructions, recruiting coaches (because sometimes, you’re only as good as your support staff), and a more intuitive layout, especially since this is more of a menu-driven game rather an action one.
As expected, you would have to shell out a bit more for this game. You can buy Football Manager Mobile 2016 from the Google Play Store for $8.99. There are still some in-app purchases available but not necessary. So good luck managing your new club and hope you win whatever competition you’ll be entering to make that $9 worth it.
