We have no confirmation if this is true but a Redditor just claimed that Google offered him free 1TB of Google Drive storage good for two years. That is one great gift because that is worth almost $240. It may be hard to believe but we’re willing to wait for similar claims from other active Google users.
How is this even possible? Well, according to a certain ‘maroonmushroom’ on Reddit, he received this offer from Google. The only prerequisite is to be a ‘rank 4 local guide’ for Google Maps. To reach that rank, one must post at least 200 reviews. That’s a lot of reviews but we’re assuming they are of high quality content and not spammy ones.
One terrabyte of cloud storage space is a lot. It may be hard to fill up and actually unwise because after the free two years is up, you will have to worry about migrating them. That or you can just pay Google for another two years. You can maybe try adding more reviews but there’s no guarantee Google will be giving the same offer.
We’re taking this with a pinch of salt for now because anyone can easily make fake reviews on Google Maps. In a day, you can make dozens to probably a hundred of fake reviews. There’s no mention why Google chose this Redditor but we’re curious to know how many received the same offer. Anyone else who received this same offer from Google?

Interesting
Lets see basically this amounts to being paid $240 to post 200 reviews. That works out to $1.20 per review. If he can write 12.5 reviews an hour that works out to $15 an hour. so that isn’t actually all that bad. On the flip side do you really want to trust a review on something that was looked over and reviewed in four minuets and forty eight seconds?
My understanding is that this free space only lasts for two years. Afterward, you’re either shelling out the money or losing your data. Correct me if I’m wrong.
