We’re already anticipating that the Kirin 950 from Huawei HiSilicon will be a great performer. We’ve mentioned that it scored high on AntuTu receiving a score of of 82,945 which is really high. It hasn’t upstaged Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 yet but still very impressive. This chipset is expected to be utilized on the upcoming Huawei Mate 8 which is due to be announced on November 26.
This time, the ARM Mali-T880 GPU that’s inside the same Mate 8 was recently benchmarked. It will have four GPU cores inside the upcoming Huawei phone and is said to be faster than the previous model. It’s just one benchmark so the numbers aren’t definitive yet.
Wait for a few weeks after the Huawei Mate 8 is announced and we’ll soon see and hear related reviews that will somehow prove that the Kirin 950 is a winner. We’re hoping that with all these information, even if just reviews or early benchmarks, the Huawei Mate 8 will be a bestseller.
It looks like Huawei is on a roll. The Kirin 950 could be a game-changer when it comes to mid-range to luxury phones because of the speed, performance, and scores. They may be pure numbers but an actual hands on or phone review will give us a clear idea. HiSilicon may be far from Samsung or Qualcomm with their Exynos or Snapdragon processors but it’s definitely advancing. This Kirin 950 is something to watch out for.
