While you and your friends probably talk a lot online through group messaging apps and social networks, arranging something in real life is a bit trickier. It’s probably either because everyone is too busy (and only have time for online things) or they’re too lazy to tell you whether or not they can make it (#millenialproblems). But a new Google app called Who’s Down makes the process simpler, and you don’t even have to write out those things called letters/words/sentences.
The name of the app is pretty self-explanatory, if you’re familiar with the slang term for “who wants to go and do stuff in real life?” You don’t need to send out an elaborate invite to your friends just to make them respond (or not). The app has options for activities you want to do, like have drinks, or go shopping or play board games. If your activity isn’t listed there, you can type it out as well. Now all your friends have to do to respond is to toggle a yes or no switch and you’ll immediately see who’s down and who’s not.
But of course the planning doesn’t end there. Once you’ve seen who wants to meet up and do the proposed activity, of course you need to finalize details. So you can then start a chat and discuss when and where and what should everyone else bring. But if you don’t want another chat app, you can just your existing one and use Who’s Down to just see a virtual show of hands.
However, the Who’s Down app is only available now for those who have an invitation. But probably, if there is much interest and demand for the app, Google will be opening it up to anyone who wants to know who’s down or what.
