If you’re dying to get your hands on the brand new Sonos PLAY:5 wireless speaker, you’d have to wait a little bit more. It won’t start shipping until the middle of this month, but at least, you can now start pre-ordering. The upgraded drivers, new design, and hopefully (and surely it should be), better sound, makes this a must-have for fans of the brand and those looking for a brand new Bluetooth connected speaker and have a little bit of money to spare.

What makes this new flagship speaker better than its predecessor is that instead of five drivers, there are now three ,midrange and three tweeters and it now has an acoustic enclosure. The speaker also now has touch-sensitive controls, where you just need to swipe left or right to either go back one track or move on to the next one. You can also use these buttons to control the volume of your speaker.

The PLAY:5 supports both horizontal and vertical orientation and the buttons also flip to adjust to whatever position it is in. Actually, you can place it in three positions: horizontal, or on its right or let side, and if you have two of them, you can pair them for better sounding music.

The Sonos PLAY:5 is not something you can buy by the dozen though (unless you’re really, really rich). It is priced at $499 in the US, $549 in Canada, $749 in Australia, €579 in Europe, and £429 in the UK. The speaker will be physically available in the US by November 20, and then in the other regions by November 25.
