If you’re a person that has a lot of appointments, dates (platonic and romantic), social events, meetings, etc, your Google Calendar has probably helped you keep sane. When they started adding illustrations in keeping with the Material Design visual guidelines, it also helped your calendar look nicer. Now they’re adding even more illustrations for other events that you may be adding, and also adding additional languages to help the whole wide world customize further their events as well.
The improvements made with this latest update of the Calendar app will further improve the app experience of people, and not just the English speaking/reading population. First off, even more illustrations have been added to its roster, so that you’ll have visual representations of such events like weddings, pool parties, salon appointments, etc.
Even better, all the previous and new illustrations will now appear in 30 languages, including Dutch, Finnish, Catalan, Korean, etc. So even though visual language is universal (well, most of the time), at least they’ll also have a better understanding and appreciation of the events in their own language.
If you’re not entirely satisfied with the new illustrations added, Google is looking to add even more. And you can help them make some too. If you have an event or activity that you really would love to be included, tweet a picture using the hashtag #makethemost. They’ll be choosing their favorites and making them part of the next set of Calendar illustrations that they’ll be releasing.
