The LG Lancet was released earlier this year as a budget, entry level device that is running on the Windows mobile operating system. But apparently now, without much fanfare or even an official statement, the tiny smartphone now has can Android version and US carrier Verizon is offering it at a very affordable cost for subscribers who are looking either for a secondary phone or who are just into budget devices.
The 4.5-inch device sports a 850 x 480 resolution, which of course you cannot compare to the “regular” phones. It runs on a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Quad-Core Processor (MSM8916). It has a 1MB RAM and an 8GB internal storage that can be expanded to 128GB through microSD. The battery capacity is 2100 mAh and the specs page says it can give you a talk time of up to 10 hours and a standby time of up to 17 days.
When it comes to the camera, a very legitimate concern of many, it has a just decent 8MP main camera and a 1MP front-facing camera. It might not be up to the standards of even the mid-level ones, but hey, it’s a budget phone so that is pretty acceptable.
Verizon is offering the LG Lancet at $5 a month for a 24-month contract. Or if you want to buy it directly, you can for just $120 a month. You can order the smartphone through the Verizon site or buy it through online and gadget retailers where it’s available.
