Satechi Gamepad aims to provide gaming control, whatever your platform is

Satechi is a California-based outfit that is more known for its routers and desk lamps that gaming mojo. But don’t look now, the company is putting out a Bluetooth gaming controller – the Satechi Gamepad – that aims to give you great gaming experiences, no matter the platform you’re using for conquering the world.

The Satechi Gamepad harps back to the Xbox 360 controller, they have very similar physical features. With the controller, you get a couple of joysticks, a D-pad, the normal set of buttons and triggers. You also get a spring holder built into the controller itself – press a button and you have a mount for your smartphone, and some hardcore gaming on mobile.

But the feature that would probably lift this nondescript gaming controller above others is that it is compatible with Windows PC, Android and iOS – so you can pretty much game wherever. There’s a mode switch that gives you compatibility with Windows PCs, and another tap on the button will make it compatible with Android smartphones, tablets and Android TV. Pretty nifty.

The Satechi Gamepad is now available in retail at via Amazon for USD$34.99, which is right about there when compared with other third party gaming controllers. The gamepad is powered by a 220mAh non-removable battery, which should last you a bit in gaming time. Plus, it’s got a power-saving sleep mode for those times when you’re far from a charger. The estimated range is 23 feet, which sounds just about right for living room and couch usage.
