Sometimes, when you have too much time on your hands, or you’re just naturally curious, you get to experiment with the various gadgets or devices at your house and see if they can work together. There isn’t really sometimes any point to making these “creations” except just to show that you can. So if you’ve ever wanted to have a remote control for your Android tablet, then you will want to watch this video made by a Redditor from Russia where he was able to do so.
The Reddit user just used an infrared remote control and attached an IR receiver to the Android tablet via an OTG USB. There were apparently no other apps involved, just these aforementioned items. At first, the video doesn’t start out that smoothly, but after a few stops and starts, we can actually see that the RC is moving things around on the tablet. You can use it as a mouse or as a selector, depending on what you need to do.
Now as to what you will use this for, it’s not really that clear. You would not really want to have your tablet a bit far away from you, even if you’re listening to music or watching a video, since it’s pretty easy to control with your fingers. But maybe if you’re cooking, and you want to raise the audio of your tablet which is placed a bit far from your counter, then that RC could come in handy.
But even if you have no use for it, at least the Redditor proved that it is possible and it is doable. Click on the video below to see the whole demonstration.
