Even though Blackberry previewed what their upcoming Android smartphone, the Priv, will look like, nothing much is known about the actual specs of the device, aside from the fact that it has a dual curved screen and a sliding physical keyboard. But a site claims to have confirmed that the smartphone will indeed be carrying a 64-bit chipset and that the rear camera will have the ability to shoot video in 4K resolution.
Even though the upcoming device will not be sporting an octa-core processor, the exa-core 64-bit chipset is still something pretty nifty. The website, which claims to have gotten the most accurate specs of the Priv (previously unveiled as the “Venice slider”, says they now have “tangible proof” that the phone will run on Adreno 418 GPU with Snapdragon 808. The 18-MP Schneider Kreuznach rear-camera will also be able to shoot video in 4K, based on leaked photos, along with 720p and 1080p ones as well.
Since it has a dual-curved screen, pretty much like Samsung’s Galaxy S6 edge and Edge+, this means that they are also free to explore what other things to do with the “extra space”. One thing seen in the leaked photos is that the battery status will be displayed on the right side when you’re charging your phone. Aside from the sliding physical keyboard, the glass-weave back-plate with a hint of carbon fiber adds to the appeal of this device.
The Blackberry Priv will have Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box (sorry, no Marshmallow yet) but it will also have its own proprietary app called Blackberry Safeguard, which will protect your device from Android’s notorious vulnerabilities. It is expected to be released by November 2015 and then have a global release by the 1st quarter of 2016.
