Samsung keeps adding more smartphones to its range, never mind if it can sometimes get a little bit confusing. The latest one that they announced is in Japan though, and is targeted at people who live a pretty active lifestyle and doesn’t require a device that has a huge screen or even powerful specs. The Galaxy Active Neo may seem like a downgraded version of the Galaxy S6 Active, but it may have a charm all its own.

First off, if you’re looking for a device with a large, high definition screen, then this one isn’t for you as it just has a 4.5-inch display with 480 x 800 pixels. It runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, has a 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage but expandable with a micro-SD card. The camera is decent, with 8MP main one and a 2MP front facing one. It does have LTE connectivity and has Android Lollipop out of the box.

But of course since this is an Active device, what it boasts of is its hardy features. It can survive a 1.5 meter drop onto concrete and is also water-proof and dust-proof according to its IP67 certification. It has a 2200mAH battery which should give it enough battery life when you’re outside doing active things or something.

The Galaxy Active Neo will be available in Japan through NTT DoCoMo and can be had for $168, off-contract. There is no word yet if this will be released in other markets as well. As a bonus for those who purchase the device, you’ll also get 100B of free space from Google Drive for the next 2 years.
