We’re now in the last quarter of the year. This means gadget makers will be busier than ever to release new products and services before the holiday season starts. One of those leading the pack is Samsung by making the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic ready for purchase. Starting tomorrow, October 2, you can buy the smartwatches from Macy’s Herald Square, Best Buy, Amazon, and Samsung’s online store.
The Samsung Gear S2 looks more sporty than the classic looking Gear S2 Classic. These watches cost $300 and $350, respectively, and will be ready in more stores beginning October 16. You can say they don’t directly rival the other Android Wear-powered watches because they run Samsung’s own Tizen OS but each model can very well be a contender for being the best smartwatch today. Why, these wearable devices work with all Samsung smartphones and other Android phones as long as they run at least Android 4.4 KitKat.
Samsung’s first smartwatch, the Gear S, was followed up by this round-faced Gear S2 and its sibling. Each model boasts of a 1.2-inch circular display, 302ppi, 4GB built-in storage, 512MB RAM, heart rate sensor, gyroscope, and accelerometer among others. The Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic can be used to display notifications for incoming calls, text messages, or email when paired with a compatible smartphone.
We already have our hands-on feature when Samsung unveiled the smartwatch models at the IFA 2015 last month but we have yet to do a formal review. For now, watch our hands-on impression in the following video:
