Another day, another new traditional watchmaker is joining the wearable craze. Today Fossil gave a preview of their Q line which includes three varied devices that can appeal to various fashion and/or fitness enthusiasts. The line consists of a bracelet that can be connected to a smartphone, a non-display watch that can also be connected, and a round face display watch that will be running on Android Wear. There aren’t much details yet on these devices except what they look like.
The wearables were designed by their watch team but what’s inside is from Intel Innovation. And the good news for those who’d want one of these babies is that you won’t have to change your smartphone since it is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows. All three will have a companion app and an activity tracker so it can record your activities and you can receive notifications as well.
The connected band looks like it will appeal to those who want a wearable but want it to be minimalist. The non-display watch may very well be for those who still want a traditional watch, but with some smartwatch functions. And of course, the round smartwatch is for those who really do want a smartwatch, but made by a traditional watchmaker.
The accessories were shown off during the New York Fashion Week but Fossil said it will be available online this holiday season, both online and in stores. No word yet on other specs as well as the price range for the Fossil Q Line.
