A lot of new messaging apps promise you the ultimate security when exchanging messages with your loved ones (or people you’ve just met), especially in light of several security breaches with Snapchat, Apple, Android itself, etc. But there are probably very few (if none at all) that have the promise in the app name itself. G Data, an online security software developer, has just released Secure Chat, which promises you protection against data leaks and “cyber eavesdropping”.
When a company that deals with protecting your digital and online life for the past 30 years says it’s the most secure way of exchanging messages, then you better hope they’re telling the truth. They use the Axolotl protocol, which will supposedly encrypt the messages you exchange with your loved ones. Its claim is that it gives you “multiple-encrypted SMS and chat communication and guarantees the secure exchange of photos, videos and other media.”
The elliptic curve cryptography process of the protocol they use ensures that no hacking will happen because it is virtually “unhackable.” They have end-to-end encryption that gives you the freedom to talk and exchange pictures and videos (the good ones, we hope) without having to worry about security and all those things. You can also set your messages to have a “self-destruct timer” so that there will be no trace left, if you’re talking about something super top secret.
You can download G Data Secure Chat from the Google Play Store for free. If you have the license for the G Data Internet Security for Android, you get the premium version which includes a phishing filter for URLs exchanged in your messages, as well as a filter for incoming and outgoing SMS and messages.
