After T-Mobile’s further expansion in the US and other countries, here’s Verizon Wireless bringing its reliable mobile connection to Cuba. The US has just reopened its embassy in Cuba and this is good news for travelers who are planning to visit the country soon. A new roaming option, the first one actually in Cuba, was just announced by Verizon under the Pay-As-You-Go International Travel deal.

If you’re about to travel to Cuba whether for work or pleasure, you can just avail of the Pay-As-You-Go International Travel as an add-on to your current plan under Verizon Wireless. It’s a one-time thing and not part of the contract so you can enjoy low roaming rates at $2.99 per minute and data at $2.05 per megabyte.

About the carrier’s coverage widening all over the globe, there are now over 225 countries that can be serviced by Verizon or,at least, its local partners. That’s bigger than the coverage of T-Mobile but being the first country in Cuba is special. This gives them the advantage of being patronized by people who want something new.

The network’s Vice President of Cultural and Segment Marketing only has this to say:

“Our customers are citizens of the world, and we want them to seamlessly enjoy a great Verizon experience wherever they travel. By offering international services while traveling in Cuba, we are making it simple and easy for our customers to stay connected wherever and whenever they choose.”
