In a move that surprised people but we’re sure delighted a lot of people, at least those subscribed to the network, AT&T announced that they are changing their data throttling policies. So instead of being throttled when you reach 5GB, you can now enjoy 22GB of data for a 30-day period before AT&T starts the data throttling. But the throttling will only be experienced when you’re in a heavily populated area or during peak hours of the day.

AT&T’s unlimited data is considered the “grandfather” of similar data plans. But when the network started to be too congested, they implemented a policy that if you go beyond the 5GB allotted to you, your data will be throttled. You can still browse and kA, but at a lower speed. Now, your limit is four times than the original and it is both surprising and good for customers.

According to their official statement, this is due to the fact that network management practices are continually evolving. And since they’ve already invested billions to expand or augment their networks, might as well raise the data threshold for users. The data throttling will only happen during times when so many people are probably accessing the network or in areas where there are a lot of subscribers.

AT&T said they will send a notice to the customer when they’ve already reached 75% 0f their allocation to want them and so they can adjust their data usage. 22GB is a lot, so people who were complaining about 5G should now be happy.
