Of email and chat, email has always been the more “formal” medium of communication (although you do get some pretty informal ones, we assume). Microsoft Send is an app that aims to make emailing “easier” – but we think that might be a bit vague. Let’s just say it makes email a bit more informal, like on a chat or private messaging app.

The Microsoft Send app is available in the Play Store but in beta format and only for a few territories. Send works like email in that it goes through the email sending protocols, but the catch is that you can easily send messages to any contact you have with an email address without worrying about subject lines, signatures or all the other parts that make normal email tedious and “formal”. It’s like instant messaging, only that your messages are sent through email.

You can send and receive messages to and from anyone with an email address, regardless if your contacts have the Send app or not. Of course, you won’t be sending informal messages to your boss or your company’s client like “wassup?” or “game tonight, bring the beer”. With Microsoft Send – you can – but you won’t, right? (Please don’t). Send is for your contacts whom you are able to email and message informally.

For now, Send is only available with an Office 365 account in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Brazil and Denmark. If you are in these areas, then you might want to give the app a try. Pick up the app via the download link below.
