Google’s very own Android developers are busy preparing for the public release of the Android M, aka Android Marshmallow. The latest version of the mobile platform is being tested already by developers. Just like any other version, we can expect majority of the Android apps will be updated with the fluffy Marshmallow in mind. But while waiting for them, here are three Android Marshmallow sample apps we can try.

Let’s see how these sample applications show us what the Marshmallow OS is all about. You won’t find these on the Google Play Store just yet but only from the Android Studio samples browser or the Google Samples on GitHub. These three apps are now live to provide developers ideas on how they can take advantage of the new features.

Let’s take a look at these Android sample apps and discover how great Marshmallow can be:

Android Direct Share. This one brings APIs that make sharing faster and more intuitive as you can start sharing content to targeted contacts and even within and to other apps. With this, you can directly share any important information easily. To demonstrate the features, a dummy messaging app was developed. This Direct Share shows us how text can be shared .

Android MidiSynth Sample. New MIDI support has been provided by Android 6.0 Marshmallow. See for yourself how the MIDI API can be used especially in MIDI messages. With this, you can connect and use a MIDI design to an Android mobile device. Expect more functions like receiving and processing MIDI messages, notifications for plugged in or unplugged condition, and of course, available devices, plus simple note playback.

Android MidiScope Sample. This one will show how the MIDI API is used and how it can process other MIDI signals from another mobile device. The MIDI API can do a lot of things like enumeration of current devices, important information, MIDI notifications, and MIDI signals. Don’t expect any MIDI sound to be played though because this sample app only shows the received MIDI signals to a display screen.
