With the recent announcement that Android Wear would soon be available on iOS devices, pundits were saying that Pebble will become the biggest loser in that development. But that doesn’t mean the smartwatch brand, that can work on both iOS and Android, should be discounted. The latest update to the Pebble Time firmware proves they’re coming out fighting, with full support for languages, quiet time and stand-by mode to give users more options and tools.

Smartwatches have become a necessity for some people, but there are still moments when you need to just turn the notifications off, whether you want to go offline, you don’t want to be disturbed from your zone, or you’re hiding from some people. Pebble’s Quiet Time mode will be especially useful for these times. It has various settings like manual where you get to turn it on or off whenever you want to, or Calendar Aware, where it automatically goes to Quiet Mode when your Google Calendar says you have a meeting. You can also set it to weekdays, weekends, or the Interruptions mode where you can quiet all notifications or allow calls to come through.

The Stand-by Mode meanwhile automatically deactivates your smartwatch if there hasn’t been any movement for 30 minutes. It will only activate again when it is picked up, worn, or if it moves. Pebble says you can save up to 50% of your power when you’re in Standy-by Mode. This is turned off by default so once you’ve updated to the newest version, turn it on by going to your settings.

You can update your Pebble Time to version 3.4 by going to your smartwatch’s settings as well. The update also now brings full support for Spanish, French, and German languages.
