Huawei has unveiled a new tablet ahead of MWC 2011, a slimline follow-up to its previous S7 budget slate. The Huawei S7 Slim has not been specified as yet – though we can see what looks to be a front-facing webcam – but we’re guessing it’s simply a thinner version of the 7-inch we looked at back in November.
That’s a good thing, as while the S7 was reasonably specified, it was also pretty heavy; hopefully the Slim version will have shed some grams too. Android Community will be at Mobile World Congress next week, so we’ll be bringing you back all the details on this new entrant to the slate segment.
[Thanks Carl!]
I wouldn’t get too excited. Huawei have already missed the Jan launch date of the X5 (we’re still waiting in all the countries mentioned in their press release at CES) and the sale price unofficially stated by the local supplier in NZ (2Degrees) is NZD500+, well above the USD250-300 (NZD320-390) stated by Victor Xu.
If this is anything to go by, Huawei’s entry into the mid-high end market is going to be delayed and over priced.
