With a host of new Android TV consoles coming out (albeit with a gaming spin), it’s interesting to see if people will still go for an Android-powered smart TV. Well, consumer electronics brand Philips is willing to test the resolve of its consumers by coming out with three new Ultra HD (4K) television models that all have Android embedded into them.

First up is the flagship of them all, the Phillips 9600 UHD TV. It boasts of a 65-inch 4K resolution (3840×2160) screen, controlled with a tablet-type remote or your own smartphone. It has Android 5.1 Lollipop embedded and a Hex Core (6-core) processor to power operations. It also has 16GB internal storage, but you can easily expand that through the three USB ports. It has all your Google Play services installed, so you can easily download your apps.

The 8601 UHD TV combines a DTS Premium sound system with either a 55-inch or a 65-inch 4K UHD TV. It has a four-sided “Ambi-light” feature that makes it seem your TV is floating in a halo of light, and it makes viewing a lot more immersive. Combine that with a slim form factor and ultra-thin bezels and you get a wonderful viewing experience. Of course, Android 5.1 Lollipop is built in, along with the needed G-apps. It is powered by the same Hex Core processor and 16GB internal storage.

Philips AmbiLux UHD TV

The AmbiLux TV takes Philips’ “Ambi-light” feature to the limit, with the row of LED lights at the rear of the 4K UHD TV matching the colors that are on your screen, giving the display a seamless feel. Ambilux replaces that with nine pico projectors that really stretches the on-screen image to your wall. The AmbiLux TV might have the lowest specs of the trio, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less gorgeous. Android 5.1 is embedded into the system, powered by only a quad-core processor at this point. Storage remains at 16GB.
