We didn’t see just one or two Xperia Z5 but three at this year’s IFA 2015. We were anticipating for the new flagship line ever since Sony decided to skip the Xperia Z4 which is actually just the Z3+ to the rest of the world. We’ve got our hands-on feature already on the Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and Xperia Z5 Premium but no mention on the prices. As for availability, these devices are expected to arrive sometime in November or just before the holidays.
Sony Mobile UK has quickly listed the new smartphones on its website. The devices are now ready for pre-order. The Sony Xperia Z5 is £599 while the smaller Xperia Z5 Compact is a bit cheaper at £549. The Z5 Premium, of course, is more expensive at £699. The prices seem “okay” if you’re in the UK but we’re not sure if the prices will be the same in the US because if you convert the prices, they’d be about $913, $837, and $1,065. Maybe they’d be listed at $599, $549, and $699 but we’re not sure yet.
Obviously, the three are way pricier than the previous flagship model, the Xperia Z4/Z3+ which is currently priced at £499 ($760) costs the same as the Xperia Z3. Interestingly, the website still lists the older Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 lines that are definitely cheaper now.
We have yet to know if the Sony Xperia Z5 is a great leap from the Xperia Z4. We just know the Xperia Z5 is already impressive being the first 4K smartphone in the world so yeah, maybe the high price is worth it. What do you think?
