As more and more of the units get shipped to backers, and non-Kickstarter supporting people now able to purchase the new models, Pebble will of course look to improving their Pebble Time and Pebble Steel devices. In just one week, they brought version 3.3 of the firmware to both devices and then updated the Android app just a few days later. Both updates brought minor but significant improvements to the new wearables from a brand that is considered one of the pioneers in the smartwatch industry.
For the firmware update, users will now be able to enjoy relationship bars on their smartwatches. No, this isn’t a list of bars where you can look for potential partners, nor is it a timeline of your current relationship. What it brings you is a timeline of the events that you have scheduled on your calendar for the entire day, with the bars showing you how these events relate to each other. You can see if they’re overlapping or if they’re back to back, and more importantly, if you have free time in between. If your event doesn’t have a duration, the relationship bar will not be displayed.
For the Pebble Time Android app meanwhile, they have also released version 3.3, like the firmware, bringing better syncing to your smartwatch and your paired smartphone. When you act on a notification on your phone, like dismissing it or replying to a message, it will automatically dismiss the notification from your Pebble. If a notification times out on your Pebble, you can go to Launcher >> Notifications so you can see the missed items and then act on it.
To update your firmware, go to your Pebble Time or Pebble Steel’s Menu >> Support >> Update Your Pebble. For the Android app, you need to be on the latest firmware version of your device in order to update the app from the Google Play Store.
