Battery problems are probably one of the things in common that mobile users have, regardless of platform or device. Until OEMs finally discover the holy grail of keeping our devices charged sufficiently, without sacrificing our actual usage of said device, then we’d have to rely on battery packs, extended batteries, mobile chargers, and all other gadgets they will be able to invent. One new player in the market from Belkin calls itself a 3-in-1 rockstar, but let’s see if we’ll be fans.
The Belkin Travel Rockstar Battery Pack offers itself as a mobile USB charging solution. It is a surge protector, an AC outlet that can charge two devices, and a mobile battery pack for when you really need to charge on the go. It has a built-in 3,000 mAh battery that can power your smartphone or tablet (although 3000 may not be enough) when you’re on the go and in desperate need of juice (the digital kind of course). Then when you finally find a power outlet, you can recharge the power bank by plugging it into an outlet, and then having two other gadgets charge as well.
The 3rd power of this rockstar is that it offers your devices surge protection so that in the case of, well, a power surge, it won’t cause damage to whatever it is that you’re charging. It is rated at 615 joules “for superior surge protection.”
The Travel Rockstar™ Battery Pack + Charger + Surge is now available on Belkin’s e-commerce site as well as several other retail locations. It costs $59.99, which may be a bit too much for a battery pack and charger come to think of it.
