The reason why it saves you bandwidth is that it reroutes traffic to its own network, compresses the data, then sends it back to you. So this means that your data goes through their servers, although they assure us that their users’ privacy is of tantamount importance.
The update to Opera Max has already been released today and your app should be updated by now. They also promise to add even more HTTPS video services in the future.
