If you’re an owner of one of Samsung’s first curved display devices, a wearable called Samsung Gear S, you might have wondered how it would be to have Android Wear installed on the smartwatch. You see, if you didn’t realize it, the Samsung Gear S smartwatch runs on the proprietary Tizen platform. We won’t try to say anything bad about that, but we can all agree that Android Wear is relatively more universal and as such will have more apps you can use.
To remind you of what we’re dealing with here, the Samsung Gear S has a 2-inch curved glass display that’s designed to follow the contour of your wrist. A bummer requirement is that it needs a Samsung Galaxy smartphone upon initialization. It is powered by a 1.2Ghz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. And then, that Tizen OS/UI.
If you want to try flashing your Gear S when the images become available, please know that you will be voiding any kind of warranty there is on your wearable. Also, flashing your Gear S will require an unlocked bootloader. The thread specifies that AT&T models have locked bootloaders, so you will have to get it unlocked to even start thinking about this.
To be very clear, the project to bring Android Wear to the Gear S is very much at the development stage at this point. But if you want to be informed about it, check the source link below for the official XDA thread. We’re pretty sure there will be significant updates soon.

Calling tizen proprietary seems a bit weird. (after all it’s open source).
So is there any movement on being able to connect the Gear S with Android Wear?
Thats full android, not wear.
