The first ever TVC for the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has arrived, and based on what they’re showing off in this video, the S-Pen really is the crowning glory of their latest phablet. The ad doesn’t have any bells and whistles yet, meaning there isn’t any attempt to be funny nor is it a high-concept video. it’s simply a showcase of what you can do now that the S-Pen has been made more powerful and usable.
The ad is shown to the beat of a percussion-heavy soundtrack, reminiscent of those acapella drum bands and through quick cut edits, shows glimpses of the various things you can actually do now with the Note 5 and its S-Pen of course. The pen itself is shown as a baton and is shown “cutting” an image from a video and then sending the pic as a message. There is also the woman making an image board of things she wants (needs) to buy. Then there’s the artist making graffiti graphics on a picture of himself.
Another thing the video highlights is the easier way you can handle the S-Pen with its clickable end for easy ejection. No matter scratching your nails just to get the pen out, but hello, probably-easy-to-get-broken springs on your phone. What the ad didn’t showcase though is probably one of the coolest features of the S-Pen on the Note 5, which is the fact that you can scribble your notes on the screen, even when the device is locked. But maybe that’s for another TVC.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5, together with the other new phablet, the Galaxy 6 edge Plus, is now available for pre-order. But the devices will actually officially be launched by August 21, with prices varying per carrier, but it’s around $739.99 off-contract for the 32GB and $839.99 for the 64GB variant. (Price based on AT&T pricing)
