Notifications can be both your best friend and your worst enemy. The more apps you install on your device, the more messier your notification screen becomes. And even deciding which one you want to see and which ones you want to turn off can become a drag. Snowball, formerly a unified inbox for all your messaging apps, now wants to help you manage the, err, snowballing notifications from distracting you from the important things that you need to focus on.
Snowball basically gives you a different and easier interface with which to handle the notifications you receive, whether it is making it a priority or disabling it because you basically don’t need to see it anymore. It will replace your smartphone’s notification panel, and then automatically hide those that are practically useless, like recent updates to all your apps. And then every time you receive a new notification, you can either swipe and mark it important, or swipe and choose to hide it in the future.
Aside from that already helpful main feature, there are also some other things you can do with Snowball. Instead of opening up the app to reply to messages on messenger apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Messenger, SMS, you can just reply to them from the incoming notification directly. If someone sends you a YouTube link or a URL to read/view, you can open it in a card-like interface so you don’t have to go to a browser anymore.
The app will also eventually predict how you treat the notifications from certain apps and automate the process. But don’t worry, if you suddenly decide that you want to look at notifications from an app that you hid, you can easily retrieve them. You can download the Snowball app from the Google Play Store for free.
