Just in case you didn’t know, Sony has an online store in the US where you can buy any products from the brand. From cameras to tablets, TV’s, camcorders, PS4, and more, you can purchase directly from the official Sony Consumer Store. Unfortunately, you only have until August 28 to do your online shopping as Sony is shutting down the online store.
Sony only said that they are improving the online experience by introducing a new product website soon. No mention when exactly but the site will include a list of authorized retailers for the customers’ purchase preference. Taking orders from the store will end on August 28, 2015 at 1PM (PST). Note that this is only for the United States as other countries will still have their online Sony Stores.
The company also posted important FAQs and we’re certain that a lot of people have questions related to the impending shutdown of the online store. Sony has ready answers regarding Order Information, Warranty Terms, Returns and Exchanges, Gift Cards, Sony Rewards, Sony Card, and Sony Financing.
For those who have their Sony Rewards points, don’t worry about them because Sony says your balance will be intact even when the site will be closed. The rewards program will go on so you can still earn and be able to redeem Sony Rewards points when you avail of various Sony products and services like watching a movie, registering DVDs or Blu-Ray discs, streaming music or movies, or buying a new Playstation game.
The points can be used to redeem different rewards like exclusive VIP experiences, the latest tunes from your fave artists, or the newest PlayStation game titles among others. The Sony Rewards catalog will remain accessible.
As for the Sony Card, anyone can still apply for one at www.sonycard.com. Whenever you buy any product from an authorized dealer, you will get five points extra. For those who financed their purchases, note that nothing will changed to your existing agreement with Synchrony Bank.
Some unfortunate changes include the 10% student discount will no longer be offered after August 28, 2015. Big or small, corporate or individual purchases must be made on any Sony Authorized Dealer in the country.
