If we told you that you could have a smartphone for less than a hundred dollars, and the specs wouldn’t suck, would you believe us? But what if we told you it wasn’t from any of your “trusted” brands for mid-range smartphones like Sony, HTC, LG and their like, would you still be interested? Well, apparently, this device exists and it’s from Chinese OEM Meizu and it’s called the M2 and it’s launching soon in China.
Meizu has made a reputation for making decent, sleek, and colorful low to mid range devices, and their newest one is a “bang for the buck” deal. The smartphone has a 5-inch 720p display and runs on a MediaTek MT6735 processor. The 2GB RAM is pretty sweet, considering devices at this price range almost always will be at just 1GB. It also has 16GB internal storage, which is again, more than what you expect at this level (usually it’s just 8GB) and it even has expandable storage through an SD card slot.
When it comes to the camera, it goes beyond expectation as well, at least in terms of megapixels. The main cam is at 13MP, while the front-facing one is at 5MP, which should be pretty good for your selfies. But the best part is, it will sell for less than $100, or 599 Yuan to be exact (which should be around $96). The sad part though is that for now (we hope it’s just for now), the Meizu M2 will only be available in China pretty soon.
As to whether this will actually be released in the US is still unknown. We have heard rumblings that Meizu wants to enter the US market for some time now, but until now, this has just been a rumor. We say, now is the right time as this new smartphone may actually be able to compete alongside devices like the Moto G or Moto E.

I like!!! I really wish they would bring it here for that price. As much as I would prefer to have a hi-end phone, I’m just not willing to shell out that kind of money for technology which is changing so rapidly.
