Skype has been continually updating its Android app in order to keep up with the other free call and messaging apps that are popular right now in the market like Viber, Snapchat, LINE, etc that are offering so much more. Just this month, this is already the second update that they are bringing to the Android app, and while the changes this time are minor, they’re still an improvement that users might welcome and enjoy.

Version 5.6 brings several visual refreshes to the messaging part of the app. Most likely, when you use Skype, you have several conversations going on at the same time. Now you can follow live conversations easily as you can see them on the recent tab. Jumping from one conversation to another is easier but just make sure that you’re typing in the correct box or else you might get into trouble.

Another new feature that makes the app look better are the new lovely round avatars for your contacts. You will also be able to see which of your contacts are online no matter where you are in the app. The chat bubbles’ colors have also been updated so that it will be easier to read them as they pop out more. You can also now easily distinguish what you said from what everyone else said, especially if you’re talking to a lot of the people in your chats.

There are also several bug fixes and improvements that come with version 5.6. The update is slowly rolling out to users. You can check Skype’s Google Play Store page to see if the update is ready.
