We still have half a year to go until the much-awaited release of the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. But every new movie or merchandise related news has been met with a lot of interest and anticipation. Want to get even more excited? Disney has released a new app that can be your hub for anything about the galaxy far, far away, and it even includes a chance to get a selfie with your favorite Star Wars character.

With the official Star Wars app, you will never be the last to know (well, unless you don’t check your phone or you don’t put the notifications on) about the latest news regarding the movie and other related events. This includes official trailers, movie announcements, blog posts, special events, creator interviews, social updates, and interactive features. If you don’t have time to delve into all the news, you can get quick updates through a snapshot news ticker. You can also choose your theme to either be the Light Side, the Dark Side, or the Droid interfaces, with each having their own sounds, animations, and design.

And yes, the much-buzzed about selfie mode is also in the app. Using various characters, costumes, and backgrounds from the various Star Wars movies, you can take a selfie, inserting yourself in the scenes, then post in social media of course. Another really cool feature is that you can practice wielding your light saber again in a training mode that is based on what we saw in the first movie, A New Hope. The app also has an Augmented Reality camera feature, wherein you can unlock 3D characters from The Force Awakens. You can also share animated GIFs of iconic scenes and characters from the past six movies, and even from the new animated series, Star Wars Rebels.

Those should be reasons enough for you to download the app right? You can get it for free from the Google Play Store. Unfortunately, it seems to be geo-locked, but hopefully, they will make it available for everyone soon.
