For the third straight year, US mobile carrier AT&T will be the exclusive retailer of the outdoors-y rugged version of Samsung’s flagship – and this year it is the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. Timing it generally for a summer launch – when people usually go outdoors for camping trips and beach vacations – Samsung is giving us a not-so-heavily-armored version this year, but with all the usual resistances still embedded.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active – for the most parts – will have the same internal specs as the current flagship. It will sport a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen powered by most likely the same Exynos octa-core processor that the flagship rolled out with. It will feature a 16MP main shooter and a 5MP wide-angle front-facing selfie cam, for all your outdoor photo needs. The smartphone will have 4G LTE connectivity, 32GB internal storage, and will run with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is certified US Military STD-810G for water resistance, dust protection, shock and vibration resistance, extreme temperatures, humidity, and high altitude. Seems like they got most of that covered. It is specifically IP68 certified for water resistance, so you can submerge it under 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. It also boasts of a 3,500mAh battery, so it should last relatively longer than your standard smartphone.

Lastly, the S6 Active is also primed for wireless charging, with almost any wireless charging pad available in the market today. There is still no information on the pricing, so hold on for that. You can continually check the dedicated AT&T page below if you’re interested. The phone will be available in three color schemes — Camo White, Camo Blue, or Gray.
