We told you about the Sony Smart Bluetooth Speaker a few months ago and now the OEM wants to remind us that the egg-shaped device is ready to be your new best friend, digitally speaking (unless you really need a new electronic best friend). They’ve released a video showing how the speakers can help you connect with people and with information all throughout the day, even showing off that you can “dance” with the device (if you’ve run out of dancing partners, that is).

The video shows a day in the life of the Sony Smart Bluetooth Speaker BSP60 as it becomes a constant companion to a busy girl, who seems to be a fashion designer or seamstress. From the moment she wakes up (alarm clock) to starting the day off with music (remote for music player), to contacting a client (handsfree calling), to checking on her messages (reads messages back to you), to being the life of the party (it can go on dance mode), the speakers play a part in her daily routine.

Weighing just 349 grams, the speaker works with any Android smartphone running on KitKat 4.4 or higher and uses NFC to communicate with the connected device. But Sony says it “will go great” with the Xperia Z2, Z3, and Z3 compact and will be the “perfect companion” to the upcoming Xperia Z3+, which will be released internationally pretty soon.

However, it seems that the Sony Smart Bluetooth Speaker can only be pre-ordered for Europe and not yet North America. If you live in Europe, then you can get it for €299 or around $331. It costs as much (or more expensive) than a smartphone, so it might be a tough sell, unless you’re in the market for an egg-shaped digital companion.
