The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge’s Android 5.1 Lollipop update was tipped for next month, just in time for summer. The information was from an update schedule Rogers posted, saying the software update is for the winning pair. The only difference between the two models is the dual curved edge display screen of the S6 edge. The latter has that “wow” factor because of the unique screen–actually a first for any smartphone.
The Android 5.1 update is said to bring new features like a Guest mode for adding profiles for other users. This feature could be especially useful for parents who have little kids trying to take over their mobile devices. Another new feature is the exposure control on the camera app which looks similar to the iPhone cam app. It’s been confirmed that RAW shooting will be supported and that lower ISO values will be added.
Android 5.0 Lollipop has RAW support as default but the two new premium Galaxy phones don’t have it. The software update will finally bring such feature to the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Actually, the Pro mode in the camera app of the phones allow customization of ISO values but only up to 100 as the lowest. With Android 5.1, an ISO level of 50 could be used.
Samsung can still make some changes to the final Android 5.1 build. A lower ISO can make crisper photos but capturing the image could be really slow. Why, shutter speed is decreased so more light could get in. Rumor has it that even the shutter speed will be included in the Android 5.1 update but we’re not sure yet.
