Finally, the much awaited NVIDIA SHIELD is now available. This new Android TV-powered device hopes to redefine living room entertainment experience in a more powerful way. No doubt that couch potatoing TV watching has changed over the past decades. We’re in the new century and now we have more choices as to what shows to watch whenever we want it.
NVIDIA SHIELD allows you to play TV according to your own preferences. Play what you want and when you want it. Feel free to watch the movies and TV shows, listen to music, explore apps, and play games via the SHIELD. This entertainment device is a smart TV platform that also comes equipped with a 64-bit Tegra X1 processor and 256-core NVIDIA GPU that promise a more powerful performance–about 30 times more than its rivals. NVIDIA SHIELD displays content in 4K in super fast streaming speed and offers a new possibility of Android gaming.
NVIDIA SHIELD also provides access to an ever-growing catalog of 4K shows and movies from the likes of YouTube, Netflix HD, Ultraflix, and Pluto TV. You can also view your own 4K videos from your GoPro and other camcorders. Feel free to use your Sling TV too. And in the future, you’ll be given access to more viewing and video apps like Vimeo, CBS, Fox, and HBO Now.
NVIDIA SHIELD also brings a different gaming experience. There are more than 200 games on Android TV available for your enjoyment. NVIDIA SHIELD will get 20 more titles in the next few months together with the 1080p worldwide GRID game-streaming service.
NVIDIA SHIELD is now available in Canada and the United States. Two models are available: the basic SHIELD which is $199.99 and the SHIELD Pro which is more expensive at $299.99. The SHIELD Pro includes a 500 GB HD and is bundled with popular game “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!”. A separate remote control with voice search is available for $49.99 while additional controllers are $59.99 each. You can also get a stand for only $29.99.
Since this is a new product, NVIDIA is offering $60 worth of Google Play credit and services when you buy an NVIDIA SHIELD or NVIDIA SHIELD Pro for a limited time only.

If this is easy to sideload onto, without connecting to a PC, then I’m down for the 500 gig version.
