Motorola DROID Turbo

Motorola DROID Turbo owners have been wondering when the official Lollipop update will be released for them. While most Motorola Moto smartphones quickly and regularly receive the sweetness of Android 5.0, the DROID Turbo isn’t as lucky but we’ve got word that the much-awaited version, actually Android 5.1 already, is coming middle of June.

This piece of information comes from a Verizon test engineer who shared an image of his own Turbo phone with Android 5.1 Lollipop. The Big Red engineer, Jose Arturo, shared the photo on Google+ and was quickly spotted by other geeks. Arturo said the the several delays by Verizon is because of the network’s band 4G LTE, HD Voice, and VoLTE.

The company wants that the HD Voice service is of great quality–“acceptable and does not impact voice quality”. There seems to be some issues on transition between 3G and LTE networks too and they just want to make sure the mobile devices work properly on XLTE.

Arturo noted these delays could also be because Motorola is a smaller company now so funding for test verifications is limited especially now it’s transitioning to become a Lenovo company.  He also shared some information about the next-gen Moto X–there might be some “front facing flash for selfies” and they bring back microSD card slots. These features are said to be available this summer so let’s just wait and see.
