Yeah, you’re probably tired of hearing that Android 5.0 Lollipop is coming to this and this gadget or will not be released to so and so device. But until all those waiting for the updates to their device are fully satisfied, then the news and updates have to keep on coming. Today, it’s the turn of T-Mobile subscribers. Samsung Galaxy Tab S owners will finally be happy, while Sony Xperia Z3 and Z1s users will have to wait a little more.
Starting May 18, T-Mobile has begun rolling out the Lollipop update to subscribers who have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. They are actually getting Android 5.0.2, which is the latest version out there (apart from the Nexus devices of course, that are already getting Android 5.2) and has much less bugs than the original Lollipop release. If you’re not yet sure if you’re already ready for the update, just go to the “About device” settings and you’ll see if your device is ready.
Meanwhile, T-Mobile has also confirmed that the Xperia Z3 and Z1s will also be upgraded to Lollipop. But you just have to wait a little while longer if you have either of those devices as they’re still testing the firmware. But at least that’s progress as back in March, they were still at the “Manufacturer Development” stage. The Xperia Z3 owners will also receive LTE Band 12 support together with the update. There is no exact date yet, except the phrase “software update coming May 2015”.
While a lot of devices are already enjoying their locked screen notifications and Material Design (along with other features of the new update), there are still some users patiently (or not patiently) waiting for their OEMs and carriers to finally roll out the Lollipop update. So this is probably not the last you’ll hear from us about this, and if you’re one of those waiting, then you’d better keep your eyes glued here.
