There is still no official word yet if there will be an Active variation of the new flagship Galaxy S6, but if the Samsung Plus program page is to be believed, then it will definitely be coming sometime soon. It is listed together with other devices that have already been launched like the aforementioned flagship and the Galaxy S6 edge, as well as other past devices that have been launched the past years.
There has already been some leaked images and rumored specs about the Galaxy S6 Active over the past few weeks. But this screencap from the Samsung Plus program page clearly shows that the Galaxy S6 Active was supposed to launch together with the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge. Obviously, that didn’t happen. But it may mean that the launch was just delayed, or maybe they decided to not push through with it. The first scenario is more likely though, as persistent rumors have been circulating.
Leaked specs say that the more “ruggedized” version of the Galaxy S6 will run on an octa-core Exynow 7420 processor and will have a 5.1-inch QHD Super Amoled display. It will reportedly have a 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory and microSD card slot for expansion. The camera will have a 16MP main one with a 5MP front-facing camera.
It will supposedly be slightly thicker than the flagship so that it can accommodate the 3,500 mAh battery. The main difference is that it will be water-proof and more rugged, which will be the selling point of the device. Let’s wait and see if the Galaxy S6 Active will materialize.
