If you are the sort that lives off Domino’s pizza and are constantly tweeting this or that from your mobile phone or computer, a new pizza order method is landing soon in the US that you will love. Domino’s is rolling out a system that will allow customers to tweet to order a pizza. The delivery chain will become the first major pizza franchise to use twitter on an ongoing basis for orders.
You don’t even have to tweet what you want if you are a frequent customer. You can just tweet the pizza emoji to @Dominos and they will get the last pie you ordered cooked and on its way to your door. Expanding to twitter for online ordering was a natural transition for Domino’s, the company already gets 50% of its orders for online sources.
Domino’s says that the tweet to order system for pizza is down to a five-second exchange to place an order. The goal is to attract busy and tech oriented people who want the fastest ordering method possible.
Odds are these tech savvy and busy people already have twitter accounts. Twitter boasts 302 million monthly active users and while it may be the first fast food retailer to use twitter to sell items, it’s not the first company to do so. In the past Old Navy and AMC Theaters have both tried selling directly on twitter via a buy now button on tweets.
