Just a few days after it went on Preview mode in the Google Play Store, the Livescribe apps are finally live for Android devices. This means that those who have Livescribe 3 will finally be able to do more with their pen and their gadgets, transforming analog into digital easily. Both apps, the Livescribe+ and the Livescribe Link will now be fully functional, making it easier to manage your smartpen and all the materials you create from it.
Livescribe+ is basically the app that you would need in order to transfer the sketches, notes, drawings, etc that you’ve made from your Livescribe 3 onto your connected gadget, which is most likely a tablet. You can convert handwritten notes into searchable notes, that can also be added onto a digital document. The app can also help you pencast, or record audio while you’re writing and then later play it back for you so you can transcribe it.
The other app, Livescribe Link, is a little more complicated. The basic idea is that it’s a service that connects your Livescribe+ and your Livescribe 3 pen. It will also serve as the connection between other future apps that would like to use he Livescribe SDK. For now, there aren’t any apps that are taking advantage of this yet, but they’re prepared for the eventuality that someone will eventually will.
You can download Livescribe+ and Livescribe Link from the Google Play Store for free. We’re still expecting some promised features like sending notes directly to Evernote or OneNote. But for now, you have to be satisfied with this one. Oh and for you to be able to use the app, you’d have to buy the Livescribe 3 for around $150.
