If you’re an avid YouTube viewer, subscriber, and creator, let it be known that Google is making some changes to the video sharing site and in how you manage channel and feed subscriptions beginning the 20th of May. The YouTube team has decided to discontinue Collections but promised to make subscriptions more enjoyable than ever.
The Collections feature is actually a way to manage subscriptions on Youtube. A collection is one group of subscriptions that one can create to organize channels. You can name any collection you like. Simply put, it’s a way to categorize YouTube channels and feeds you want to watch regularly. You can set ‘family’, ‘sports’, ‘news’, or ‘weird’ collections depending on your subscriptions.
While this is one helpful feature, sad to say but Google will have to end it soon. The grouped subscriptions that work like playlists of your favorite feeds and channels will no longer be available before this month ends. Why? Not many people were using them. And you know how Google likes to “declutter” by ending services or features that are no longer popular or widely used by the general public.
Yes, the Collections feature will have to go away soon. Come May 20th, regular Collections users won’t see the feature anymore. No word what will replace this one but regularly visit the Subscription Manager page for upcoming details.

This does not improve the YouTube experience. Disappointed that its gone because it was so much easier to find the channels I wanted to watch. Wrong move on Googles part, hope the reconsider.
