Looks like all the users of still un-rooted Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphones will be waking up to good news today, as we have news of a developer putting out a tool that will give users root access without the hassle of tripping KNOX security, which is Samsung’s in-device security software.

Firstly, if you’re still wondering what the big deal is about rooting or not rooting – maybe this is not the right article for you. In not so many words, gaining root access to a device is the gateway for tweaking Android in a lot of ways, and in most cases allowing the user to personalize the software to get the features he or she needs, and squeezing Android to do every last bit that it is able to.

The problem with Samsung’s newest flagship is that it carries the KNOX security software, which maintains the devices integrity so that it can be securely used for payment options and such. Before today, any effort to gain root will result in tripping KNOX forever and disqualifying your device for any secure payment features. Enter XDA member “idler1984”, who has developed what he calls “PingPong Root”, which is a tool still in beta phase, but already delivers on what you need – root access for the Galaxy S6 without tripping KNOX.

How do you do it? Quite ridiculously simple, as a matter of fact. Download the tool, tap a button, and the magic just unfolds automatically. As of writing, PingPong Root only supports the Galaxy S6, but the developing team says that it will be looking into other devices soon, such as the Galaxy S6 Edge, HTC M9 and LG G Flex 2.
