While various OEMs have made the huge pitch to convince you to buy a smartwatch to be even more connected than we already are, a lot of people are still wary of replacing their traditional timepieces with these less better-looking wearables. Brands like LG and Huawei have been trying really hard to make their smartwatches look as nice as the usual luxury watches, but some are still not convinced. A new product announced by uxury Swiss timepiece manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen may just be the tipping point for some users.

IWC Connect will turn your traditional watch into something that can connect into the Internet of Things. IWC hasn’t released much details about this device, but it will reportedly be tested first on their Big Pilot’s watch and will just be a button that you can attach to the strap. It will give you activity tracking, which is one of the main reasons why people want wearables, and it will also give users control over a limited number of devices that are in the IoT.

According to Georges Kern, CEO of IWC, they are working with a “like-minded digital technology company” (still unnamed at this time) so that they will be able to offer a solution to those who want to have connected devices but would not want to give up their timepieces. He also assured their customers that IWC Connect will “not touch our beautiful smartwatches.”

Aside from that statement, not much is known about IWC Connect, like which devices or platforms will be included or what software will be best to help track your activities. But for those who love luxury watches, this is something to look forward to.
